Farming: The Ideal Life…mostly

Hello and Happy New Year! My name is Roja, and I live on a farm. I am a German Shepherd dog and I am a teenager! I live with my dog dad Major and with my human step mom and dad, MJ and Luve.

I’d have to say that living on a farm is mostly a blast, except on days like today when I’m stuck inside on the couch. Since when did humans forget that it’s more fun to play football with me than to watch it on television? Some things about them I’ll just never understand. Oh well…

So, because I’m bored and no one else seems interested in me today, I thought I’d start a blog. Writing a blog is sort of like being a pen pal to someone you don’t know very well, but as you get to know more about them, it starts to get more fun, and I am all about fun! Humans think pen pals are fun, so I thought I’d give this blogging thing a try. First I’ll tell you a little more about me and my family:

I was born in March of 2018, so that means my 14th birthday is coming up! How does that add up you say? Well, they tell me that one dog year is the same as 7 human years, so that means my dear dog dad Major will soon be 70…that’s really old! He used to be able to run faster and play with me more. He taught me a lot when I was growing up and I love him a lot but now I’m in charge, and sometimes he seems to forget that. We still have fun chasing bunnies together…daddy-o can get pretty excited about that!

Speaking of getting excited, I have one excitable brother named Cruize. He lives close by with my human uncle Jingles (not my uncle’s real name, just something I like to call him for fun). Cruize likes to think he’s boss, and I try my best to teach him manners, but he can be SO frustrating! He is only 7 (yes, in dog years) and loves to have fun like me. One of our favorite things to do is play in the snow!

Except for today, life on the farm is never dull. For instance, you wouldn’t believe who just moved in. I don’t even know how to describe them…and there’s 5 of them!

All I know so far is that they have very hard heads, they smell really…really…well I’ve never smelled anything quite like them before and I’m not sure I like the biggest one’s attitude. They moved in at Cruise’s place, and it’s going to be very interesting to find out what how they fit into life on the farm…hey, maybe they are for me to chase? Whatever, I’m not going to be replaced as watch dog here anytime soon and so they are really more Cruise’s problem than mine. Stay tuned!

Well, football is FINALLY over so we might just do something fun, like skiing.  Talk to you again soon!  Roja
